Soon: Barazani to meet with heads of electoral blocs

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: Kurdistan President Massoud al-Barazani will soon meet with the heads of electoral blocs and a group of media personnel ahead of the parliamentary polls, scheduled to be held next month, according to an informed source. “The president will call on bloc heads to abide by instructions laid down by the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC)…,” the head of the presidential office in the region, Fouad Hussein, said in a statement. The president will also meet with the editors-in-chief of newspapers and magazines, as well as media officials, the statement noted. A total of 509 candidates from 20 political blocs and five alliances encompassing 15 blocs are competing for 111 seats in the upcoming parliamentary polls, scheduled to take place on July 25. SS (P) 1
