(IraqiNews.com) On Saturday, U.S. Army General Martin Dempsey told reporters on his way to the Middle East, that he believes the ISIS group militants are going to be pushed out of the key Iraqi city of Tikrit.

Dempsey was asked by reporters traveling with him on an aircraft from Washington to Bahrain whether he believes ISIS will be pushed out of Tikrit. “Yeah, I do,” he said. “The numbers are overwhelming.”

About 23,000 Iranian-backed Shiite militiamen and Iraqi soldiers are involved in the offensive, compared with hundreds of ISIS fighters.

“The important thing about this operation in Tikrit is less about how the military aspect of it goes and more about what follows,” Dempsey said.
