Sadrist delegation, Defense Minister discuss cooperation in fighting ISIL

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) A Sadrist delegation chaired by Chairman of Parliamentary Defense and Security Committee MP Hakim al-Zamili visited the Defense Minister Khalid al-Ubaidi to discuss with him coordination of associating the Sadrist Peace Brigades (Saraya al-Salam) in the battles of the Iraqi Security forces against the terrorist gangs of the ISIL .

Statement by the Ministry of Defense received by IraqiNews.com cited “Ubaidi received MP Zamili and the leaders of the Saraya al-Salam (The military wing of the Sadr Trend) in his office in Baghdad on Sunday,” noting that “The leaders of Saraya al-Salam assured for Minister Ubaidi that Saraya al-Salam will be real assist for the ISF and will work under command of the General Command of the Iraqi Armed Forces.”

“Members of the Sadrist delegation expressed their appreciation and greetings of Muqtada al-Sadr for Minister Ubaidi and appreciation for the victories and sacrifices of the ISF,” the statement added.

For his part, Minister Ubaidi assured that “The volunteers and disciplined tribesmen who work under command of the ISF are the best assist for the security forces.” /End/
