There are no Iranian militias in Iraq, says Hoshiyar Zebari

(IraqiNews.com) In an interview with Arabiya TV channel, Finance Minister Hoshiyar Zebari denied the presence of Iranian militia fighting in Iraq, noting that the talk about this is just media hype.

Zebari stressed that the current Iraqi ground military operations is purely Iraqi, pointing out that the Army does not need more manpower to fight ISIS.

Washington expressed concern about the growing Iranian armed presence in Iraq.

Statements issued by senior Iranian figures talked about “an Iranian empire” whose capital is Baghdad, which raised the ire of some Iraqi leaders.
