Foreign Ministry celebrates International Women’s Day

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) Under the auspices of Foreign Minister, Dr. Ibrahim Al Jaafari, the Women Advancement Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a celebration on the International Women’s Day attended by a number of diplomats accredited to Iraq, Deputy of UN Secretary General, and a number of MOFA staff.

A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by IraqiNews.com cited “Minister Jaafari gave a speech asserting the Ministry’s support to the women’s diplomatic role within her specialty, integrity, morals, ability, and chastity, referring that woman can contribute in presenting the bright image of Iraq in different parts of the world.”

“He explained that woman a long march of struggle with blood, sweat, and tears and is still facing blockades. As the Ministry represents the Iraqi diplomacy, it is paying attention to the diplomatic role the woman can play,” the statement added.

“Minister Jaafari stressed the necessity that the woman should present a model between being a member of the family as a wife and a mother and between her work in the diplomatic corps, education, medical or any other field, considering the women present in the war, indirectly, against the Islamic State (IS), adding that the man who goes to the fight has the women in his back as a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and teacher, therefore, we cannot separate between the front where the fight against terrorism and IS and the internal front where the education and morals,” the statement concluded. /End/
