946 displaced families in Thi-Qar return to Baghdad, Diala

THI-QAR / IraqiNews.com: A total of 946 families in Thi-Qar have returned recently to their original areas in Baghdad and Diala thanks to the stabilized security conditions there, according to a migration and displacement official in the province on Sunday. “Some 826 families returned to Baghdad while 79 returned to Diala and 41 to other provinces,” Ali Saleh al-Hilw told IraqiNews.com news agency. “The United Nations Center for Human Settlements – Habitat (UNCHS) has taken upon itself to transport these families for free through its land fleet of trucks and pickups,” said Hilw. He added that the total number of displaced families in the province has reached 7,724. Thi-Qar lies 385 km north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. AmR (P)/SR 1
