VIDEO: ISIS destroys Assyrian city of Nimrud near Mosul, Iraq
(IraqiNews.com) The Islamic State terrorist organization published the video below in which its militants destroy the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud near Mosul in northern Iraq as reported by IraqiNews.com last month.
The video showed ISIS gunmen using hammers and heavy machinery to destroy the site before fully detonating it.
According to archaeologists, ISIS depends on smuggling monuments as one of its sources of funds, and destroys heavy monuments that cannot be moved.
Nimrud is an ancient Assyrian city that dates back to the thirteenth century BC, and was known as ‘Kalh.’
