DM hands Sistani’s representative letter requesting support for armed forces

(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Monday, Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi handed the representative of the highest religious authority in Najaf Ali al-Sistani a letter requesting support for the armed forces.
The Defense Ministry said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com, “DM Khaled al-Obeidi visited this morning the shrine of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib with the governor of Najaf, Adnan Zurfi and a number of officers.”
The ministry added that, “After the visit, al-Obeidi delivered a message to the representative of the highest religious authority Ali al-Sistani, requesting support for the armed forces.”
It is noteworthy that Defense Minister Khaled al-Obeidi arrived on Monday morning to the province of Najaf and held upon his arrival a meeting with the governor Adnan al-Zurfi to discuss the security situation in the province.
