 300 former Ba’ath members joined ISIS militants, says official

(IraqiNews.com) Diyala – On Wednesday the security committee of Diyala Provincial Council revealed, that 300 elements of al-Ba’ath party had joined the ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria.

The president of the committee, Sadek al-Husseini, stated for IraqiNews.com, “The security information that has reached us indicate that the 300 elements of the dissolved Ba’ath party had joined ISIS,” noting that, “They are fighting now in a number of conflict areas including Anbar, Salahuddin and Mosul; including 20 leaders within ISIS who were former Ba’ath members.”

“Ba’ath and ISIS are two faces of the same coin; there is no difference between them,” he said.
