Katyusha attack on Basra International Airport

BASRA / IraqiNews.com: Two Katyusha rockets have targeted the U.S. military base at Basra International Airport, but no casualties were reported. “During a late hour last night, two Katyusha rockets were fired towards the U.S. base at Basra International Airport (25 km northwest of Basra City),” a source from the airport told Iraqi News. There has been no word on casualties, the source noted. U.S. forces took over the airport, which has served as a base for the Multi-National Force (MNF) since the 2003 invasion of the country, after the withdrawal of British troops in April 2009. The Shiite city of Basra lies 590 km south of the Iraqi capital Baghdad. SS (P) 1
