Abadi receives U.S. Gen. Austin, stresses importance of international coalition efforts to fight ISIS
(IraqiNews.com) Commander of the armed forces, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, announced Wednesday, that the Iraqi forces are capable of freeing the Iraqi land and inflict losses upon the “enemy,” stressing the importance of the efforts made by the coalition forces to support Iraq.
The office of the Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said in a statement obtained by IraqiNews.com, “The Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi received in his office today the commander of U.S. Central Command Gen. Lloyd J. Austin,” noting that “During the meeting, Abadi and Austin discussed the security updates on the ground in the battles waged by our troops against ISIS and the support of the international coalition in the process of the liberalization of Anbar and the rest of the provinces, in addition to training and arming the Iraqi government forces.”
Abadi also stressed “The importance of the efforts made by the international coalition to support Iraq in the fight against ISIS gangs,” pointing out that “Our forces are stationed in the battlefield and able to inflict heavy losses upon the enemy’s ranks and liberate the land of Iraq.”
