(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – A German newspaper revealed on Thursday that 600 Germans have joined ISIS in Iraq and Syria, noting that the German Interior Ministry raised the idea of the withdrawal of its nationality from extremists who left the country to fight in the ranks of armed groups in the Middle East.

The newspaper said in its edition today: “The owner of this idea is the Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière,” noting that, “the interior ministers in all 16 German states are discussing this proposal now; there is talk about the possibility of the withdrawal of the German nationality from the persons who hold dual nationality.”

According to statistics, the number of Germans who joined the ranks of ISIS in Iraq and Syria is about 600 people, 180 of them returned to the county. The German government fears the possibility of their involvement in promotional activities to recruit new fighters for the organization.
