Civilian killed, 2 wounded in mortar attack south of Khanaqin

DIALA / IraqiNews.com: A civilian man was killed and two others wounded when three mortar shells landed on their house south of Khanaqin on Sunday, a security source in the district said. “The three mortars landed today (Aug. 23) on a house in the area of Hamrin, al-Saadiya, (30 km) south of Khanaqin, leaving one civilian man killed and two others wounded,” the source told Iraqi News. Khanaqin, 155 km northeast of Baaquba, is one of the districts disputed between the central Iraqi government in Baghdad and the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Regional Government Kurdistan RegionG). “The wounded were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment,” the source said, not giving more information about the incident. Baaquba, the capital city of Diala province, lies 57 km northeast of Baghdad . AmR (P)/SR 2
