Iraqi officer killed, 2 soldiers injured in mortar attack south of Tikrit

(IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – A security source in Salahuddin province announced on Tuesday, that an army officer was killed and two soldiers were injured in mortar shells attack south of Tikrit.
The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Three mortars landed today in Mtaibijh area east Dhuluiya, south of Tikrit, killing a captain in the army and wounding two soldiers.”
The source, who asked to remain anonymous, added: “security force cordoned off the scene, while the body of the dead man was transferred to the forensic medicine department and the wounded to the nearest hospital for treatment.”
