(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – On Tuesday, the Iraqi Council of Ministers considered the Turkish bombardment on the Iraqi territory as “a serious escalation and an assault” on Iraqi sovereignty, calling on Turkey to respect good neighborly relationship between the two countries and not to escalate.

Information Office of the Prime Minister said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Council of Ministers discussed the Turkish bombardment on the Iraqi territory and considered it a serious escalation and an assault on Iraqi sovereignty.”

The statement added that, “the Council stressed Iraq’s commitment not to allow any attack on Turkey from Iraqi territory and called on Turkey to respect good neighborly relationship between the two countries and not to escalate and resort to the understanding between the two neighboring countries in solving problems.”

The statement stated that, “the Council of Ministers called on Turkey to strengthen water releases in the Tigris and Euphrates according to the signed agreements and understandings between the two countries prior.”
