20 civilians killed, 15 wounded by truck bomb in Mosul

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: At least 20 civilians were killed and 15 others were wounded in a truck bomb explosion in eastern Mosul, a security source said on Thursday. “A suicide bomber blew up a truck crammed with explosives late Wednesday (Sept. 9) in Wardak village, al-Hamadaniya district in eastern Mosul, killing 20 civilians and injuring 15, including women and children,” the source told Iraqi News. “The explosion damaged more than 15 nearby houses,” he added. The casualty toll was expected to rise because many people are still missing in the rubble. “Security forces intercepted a second suicide truck bomber, killing the driver and defusing the bomb before it could be detonated,” the same source said. Mosul, the capital of Ninewa, lies 405 km north of Baghdad. SH (P)   1
