9 cops arrested for supporting armed groups

NINEWA / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi forces on Tuesday arrested nine police personnel in Talafar district on charges of supporting armed groups, according to a local police chief. “The arrests came following confessions by gunmen who had been arrested,” Col. Ali Hadi Obeid told Iraqi News. The policemen confessed to having provided assistance to armed groups to carry out suicide bombings and acts of violence, most recently a blast that targeted a family in al-Muthanna neighborhood and killed two civilians and wounded 9 policemen, Obeid noted.
