Russia deploys tanks to Syrian airbase near Latakia

(IraqiNews.com) Russia deployed about a half dozen tanks at an airbase in Syria, according to U.S. officials, adding that the intentions of Moscow’s deployment of military tanks were unclear.

Two U.S. officials told Reuters: “We have seen movement of people and things that would indicate that they plan to use that base there, south of Latakia, as a forward air operating base,” adding that, “Seven Russian T-90 tanks had been spotted at the airbase near Latakia.”
