(IraqiNews.com) Arbil – On Tuesday the president of the Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, discussed with a US delegation the preparations for the liberation of the city of Mosul.

The presidency of the region said in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com: “the president of the Kurdistan region Massoud Barzani met with Deputy Brett McGurk, US Ambassador to Iraq Stuart Jones, the coordinator of the Special Forces in the US Army Gen. James Terry and Commander of US forces in Iraq, Gen. Tony Thomas,” adding that “The two sides have held talk about the conditions on the ground to confront ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the preparations of Mosul liberation and how to defeat the terrorists, as well as discussing the political situation in the region and relations between Baghdad and the region.”

The presidency added, “the two sides discussed the joint work between the coalition forces and the Peshmerga alongside the Iraqi forces,” indicating that “America confirmed its support for the Kurdistan region and help the Peshmerga forces.”

The presidency indicated that “the two sides praised the high coordination between the Peshmerga forces and the US military,” stressing that “the cooperation between the two parties during the joint operations contributed to the removal of civil targets from the battle fields.”
