Feyli Kurds demand share in parliament

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Feyli Kurds in Iraq demanded Saturday to include them in the quota system while allocating the seats of the country’s parliament after the coming election in early 2010. “Feyli Kurds believe that it is their right to be included in the quota system…,” Abdulsamad Rahman Sultan, the current Iraqi Minister of Displacement and Migration, told Iraqi News. He demanded to form an administrative entity that reports to the Iraqi Council of Ministers to solve all the problems related to Feyli Kurds. Feyli Kurds, who make one of the ethnic groups of the Iraqi people, are inhabiting the border areas between Iraq and Iran, mostly concentrated in the areas of Jalawlaa, Khanaqin, Mandili, Badra, Jassan, al-Kut, al-Numaniya and al-Aziziya. There are no official statistics regarding the number of Feyli Kurds in Iraq, particularly after the mass displacement and citizenship deprivation. MH (P) / SS 2
