URGENT / President Barzani calls on Kurdish Parliament to convene next Thursday

ARBIL / IraqiNews.com: President of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, called on the Kurdistan’s Parliament to hold the first session next Thursday, according to a presidential statement. “According to the third paragraph of the 10 article of the Kurdistan region’s presidency of 2005, President Massoud Barzani decided to call the president to convene to hold its first session at 10am on Thursday (Aug. 20),” said the statement received by Iraqi News. Parliamentary and presidential elections for the semi-autonomous Iraqi Kurdistan region were held on Saturday (July 25) with participation of 24 election lists and five runners for the top post in Kurdistan.
