Parliamentary blocs call on political council to convene

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi parliament Sheikh Khaled al-Attiya unveiled Friday a number of recommendations of the parliamentary blocs’ meeting, including the call to hold a meeting of the political council of the national security to discuss the security developments in the country. “A meeting was held between security commanders, heads of the parliamentary blocs and the parliament’s security and defense committees to discuss the security developments in the country as well as reviewing the security commanders’ reports on the recent terrorist attacks in Baghdad,” al-Attiya told Iraqi News. “The meeting made several recommendations, including calling the political council of the national security to convene,” he added. The final toll from the synchronized explosions that occurred Wednesday (August 19) in Baghdad is 82 dead and 1,203 wounded. A series of bombings struck different parts of Babel province on Thursday (Aug. 20), leaving four civilians dead and 65 others wounded. SH (P) 1
