Clashes erupt in ISIS bastion in Syria
(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad- A well placed source in the Ministry of Interior informed that ISIS fighters have clashed with US-backed forces in a militant stronghold in northern Syria. The violence erupted after a 48-hour deadline given to the IS to leave Manbij city expired.
“The fate of tens of thousands of civilians trapped in Manbij, which lies on a key supply route to Raqqa, is in a dicey situation,” the source informed, adding, “US supported Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have encircled Manbij but in a bid to prevent civilian casualties have prevented themselves from entering it.”
