Obama heads to Saudi Arabia to meet King Salman
(IraqiNews.com) U.S. President Barack Obama will head to Riyad to meet with the new Saudi Arabia King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz in order to discuss shared concerns about ISIS and the crisis in Yemen, a U.S. official said Monday.
Barack Obama’s deputy national security adviser, Ben Rhodes, stated, “Principally, this is to mark this transition in leadership and to pay respects to the family and the people of Saudi Arabia…but I’m sure that while we’re there, they’ll touch on some of the leading issues where we cooperate very closely with Saudi Arabia.”
Noteworthy, King Salman Bin Abdul-Aziz, who was formerly appointed as crown prince, defense minister and deputy prime minister, has become the new Saudi Arabia King after the death of King Abdullah at the age of about 90.
