Peaceful marches in Kurdistan demanding release of Ocalan from Turkish prisons

Kurdistan (IraqiNews.com) On Sunday, supporters of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party organized peaceful protests in the region on the occasion of 16th anniversary of the arrest of PWK leader Abdullah Ocalan. Participants in the protests demanded Turkey to set him free, and urged the international community to intervene for the sake of his freedom.

IraqiNews’ reporter stated that on Sunday peaceful marches took place in the Kurdistan region, with the participation of politicians, civilians, and activists on the occasion of 16th anniversary of the Turkish Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan’s arrest, explaining that the Kurd’s marches demanded the release of Ocalan.

One of the participants named Ehsan Shnow said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “Thousands of PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan’s supporters participated in peaceful marches to mark the sixteenth anniversary of his arrest,” explaining that “The marches were organized by the PKK supporters and set off in front of the Kurdistan Regional Parliament building towards the Turkish consulate in the center of Erbil.”

“The protesters held signs demanding Turkey to release Ocalan,” he added, pointing out that they “urged the international community to intervene for his freedom.”
