Russian Krasnaya Zvezda: 92.6% of Syrian territory free of IS
Damascus (Syria News) Russian Ministry of Defense announced, on Friday, that nearly 92.6% of the Syrian territory was liberated from the Islamic State group, Krasnaya Zvezda reported.
The official newspaper of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Krasnaya Zvezda, stated that about 92.6% of the Syrian territory are now free from the Islamic State group.
Furthermore, Russian troops have cleared more than 200 hectares in Deir Ezzor from land mines, which were left by the Islamic State group, the newspaper added.
The Russian announcement came after the recent Syrian advance into the majority of areas, located east Syria, starting from Homs Province till the countryside and city of Deir Ezzor.
It is noteworthy that Russian troops, including Air Force and Navy fleets, are joining the ongoing battles in Syria, to back up the Syrian regime in its war against the Islamic State and opposition forces, based on an official appeal from the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to Russia.
