SDF captures new areas in Raqqa after clashes with IS
Raqqa (Syria News) Local sources informed that the Syrian Democratic Forces militia managed, on Monday, to capture the residential area of Sariko, in northern the city of Raqqa, Qasioun News reported.
The sources said that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) captured the residential area of Sariko, in northern the city of Raqqa, after violent clashes with the Islamic State militants, leaving several casualties among the ranks of the two sides.
Meanwhile, international coalition warplanes carried out air strikes on the Islamic State-held neighborhoods in the city of Raqqa, in addition, SDF militias launched an artillery shelling on the same areas.
Moreover, violent clashes took place between the Islamic State and the Syrian Democratic Forces militia in the outskirts of the brigade 17, in northern Raqqa.
It is noteworthy that the Islamic State group recently managed to retake several areas in Raqqa city, leaving several casualties.
