250,000 persons went to the polls outside Iraq-TV
BAGHDAD /Iraqi News The Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Monday said that 250,000 Iraqis had casted their votes in polling stations outside the country, according to the semi-official al-Iraqiya TV. Voters outside Iraq headed to 119 polling centers in 16 countries: Iran, the United States, Germany, Britain, The Netherlands, Australia, Sweden, Turkey, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Austria, and Denmark. Nearly 19 million Iraqis eligible to vote from Iraq’s 18 provinces headed to the country’s voting stations yesterday (March 7) to choose 325 members of Parliament. A special voting that included detainees, hospital-bound patients and security personnel who are working on the election day took place in the country over the past few days. SS (P) 1
