3,086 victims of violence in August 2009 – MRFC
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: August was the most violent month in 2009, the Monitor of Constitutional Freedom and Bill of Rights (MRFC) said Tuesday. The MRFC said in its monthly report that 3,086 victims fell in acts of violence throughout Iraq in that month. “A total of 2,533 people were wounded during that month,” said the report that was received by Iraqi News. “Other 1,358 persons were arrested in Iraq in August, 2009,” the report said. “Arrests throughout Iraq have increased, and they were illegal and random in part of them,” it said. The report noted that at least 483 prisoners were released from detention centers during that month. It pointed out that five death verdicts were issued in August 2009.
