450 tribal sheikhs meet for reconciliation conference

KARBALA / IraqiNews.com: The Ministry of National Reconcilation held a meeting attended by 450 tribal sheikhs from three provinces to discuss questions related to national reconciliation, Interior Ministry sources said today.  Captain Salman al-Hasnawi told IraqiNews.com that the conference was held under the auspices of Premier Nouri al-Maliki, and attended by ministers , MPs and local officials from Karbala, Najaf, and Babil provinces.  The conferees stressed the importance of disarmament and putting criminals on trial.  He added that the conference aimed at strengthening national reconciliation thoughts and consolidate security in their areas.  RM (TS)/SR 969
