70 corruption cases referred to CPI in Wassit
WASSIT / IraqiNews.com: Seventy cases of corruption in Wassit province have been referred to the Commission on Public Integrity (CPI), according to a local official. “During the life of the previous council, 70 cases of administrative and financial corruption have been referred to the integrity commission in the province,” the chairman of the Integrity and Follow-up Committee in Wassit’s outgoing provincial council, Bassem Ali Kareedi, told IraqiNews.com news agency. “These cases concern employees and directors from different state departments,” Kareedi noted, calling on the newly-elected council to follow up on the cases “so our efforts will not be wasted.” Kut, the capital city of Wassit province, lies 180 km southeast of Baghdad.
