(IraqiNews.com) Baghdad – Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi held on Tuesday a meeting with US President Barack Obama in New York to discuss ways to strengthen US support for Iraq in the areas of armament and the economy, as well as strengthening the role of the international coalition in the fight against ISIS.

Abadi’s office said in a statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Prime Minister held today a meeting with US President Barack Obama in New York,” noting that, “During the meeting they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing it”.

Abadi added that the two sides “also discussed ways to increase American support for Iraq in the areas of armament and the economy, as well as the situation in the region and the strengthening of the international coalition’s role in fighting ISIS.”

Noteworthy, Abadi arrived on Monday in New York at the head of a ministerial delegation to participate in the meetings of the General Assembly of the United Nations.
