Al-Samarraie mulls with Iranian president boosting bilateral relations
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Iraqi Parliament Speaker Iyad al-Samarraie discussed on Tuesday with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran ways of boosting bilateral ties in various domains, according to Mehr news agency. “Ahmadinejad received on Tuesday night (Sept. 30) al-Samarraie, with whom he discussed ways oof boosting ties in different fields,” the news agency said. The Iraqi official called for the expansion of Tehran-Baghdad security cooperation. Al-Samarraie along with a number of Iraqi lawmakers arrived in Tehran on Monday (Sept. 28) to hold talks with Iranian officials on mutual interests. A number of Iraqi lawmakers, who also attended the meeting, called for the expansion of ties between the two neighboring countries. Al-Samarraie, in a separate meeting with the Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani late Monday, said that Iran’s technological advancement and economic growth will highly affect Iraq’s development.
