Anybody, who stays in Iraq as occupier will face armed resistance, Sadr says
NAFAF / IraqiNews.com: The Leader of the Shiite al-Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, has said on Saturday that “the government that accepts the existence of American forces in Iraq, even for training purposes, is a weak government, warning that the US training troops would be treated as occupiers that must be resisted militarily, if they stay in the country.” Answering a question by a group of students, belonging to the Sadrist Trend and studying in Australia, about his opinion towards the Iraqi government’s attitude towards the existence of American forces in Iraq to train the Iraqi forces, Sadr said: “Anybody (American), who shall stay in Iraq, shall be treated as a vicious occupier, who must be resisted through military resistance,” charging that “the government that accepts the existence of such forces, even for training purposes, is a weak government.” The Iraqi political leaders had met at the Office of the Iraqi Presidency, under chairmanship of President Jalal Talabani on Tuesday, July 8, 2011, to discuss the security training with the U.S. side, and agreed to assign the Iraqi government to start talks with the American side for training purposes, according to the Strategic Agreement concluded between both countries, because of Iraq’s need for training.
