Arab Tribe Leader Says Iraqi Parliament Speaker a Defector to Tehran
Erbil (BasNews) The leader of al-Jabouri Arab tribes in Kirkuk Sheikh Masrour al-Jabouri described the Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri as a defector to Iran and declared al-Jabouri tribes’ abandonment of him.
The Arab leader told BasNews “we as Jabouri tribe abandon Salim al-Jabouri as he has violated the principles of our tribe and has become a defector to Iran,” adding that he submits to Tehran’s decisions.
The parliament speaker’s latest stance against the Kurdistan flag in Kirkuk does not represent the attitude of an indigenous Arab person; it was rather a chauvinist position, Sheikh Masrour said.
He also criticized al-Jabouri for remaining silent about the atrocities being committed against the Sunni Arabs in Diyalah province by the Shi’ite militiamen of Hashd al-Shaabi and banning the Kurdistan flag in favour of Iran.
The Arab tribal leader affirmed that Kurdistan flag should not be opposed, arguing that if it wasn’t for this flag, Jabouri wouldn’t have lived securely.
The Iraqi parliament approved a decision on Saturday to ban the Kurdistan flag in Kirkuk, stating that only the Iraqi flag should be raised over the government institutions across the city.
