Araji considers forming security forces from citizens of disputed areas as “New sedition”
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of al-Ahrar bloc within the Sadr Trend, Baha al-Araji, stated that the idea of forming security forces from the citizens of the disputed areas to protect them after the withdrawal of the Peshmirga and federal security forces is not acceptable.
After finishing a meeting between the Iraqi National Alliance and a delegation comprising all the Kurdish political sides, Araji stated “The political sides are responsible for the failure of the political process because they are participating in the parliament and the government and also participate in making the decisions.”
“We do not accept the idea of forming security forces from the citizens of the disputed areas to protect them because those areas comprise Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and others where arming them creates new sedition,” he added.
“The participants of the meeting assured the settlement of the current crisis according to the constitution,” he concluded.
It is worth mentioning that meeting was held at the residence of the head of the Iraqi National Congress, Ahmed al-Chalabi, on Wednesday where all sides stressed the necessity of conducting dialogue and avoid the media escalation to settle the crisis.
