Barzani describes situation in Syria as "Very worrying"

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, described the Syrian situation as “Very worrying.”

While attending the conference of the European Parliament on Tuesday, he said “The situation in Syria is very worrying and the armed groups linked to al-Qaeda are very active in Syria and they represent a direct threat to Kurdistan Region where we cannot allow the armed groups to get strength in Syria,” noting that “The Syrian opposition represented by the Free Syrian Army is not qualified to replace the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad.”

“Geneva Conference 2 will represent a chance to the Syrian people to decide their fate, but personally I am not very optimistic,” he concluded.
