In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com, the SIIC stated “While announcing Diyala National Alliance, we have commit ourselves to be together in forming the government to reflect the will of our people and serve the citizen in Diyala regardless their sects or belongingness.”
“Our stance was not against the others or for an electoral purpose, but it is for the general interest,” the statement added, noting that “We think that forming the local government in Diyala by leaving the commitment and allying with other blocs is a strategic mistake that needs to be corrected because it threatens the national unity where we hope it to be reconsidered.”
