Canceling Ration Card shows instability of government in making decisions, says Asadi
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretary General of al-Ahrar bloc, Dhiyaa al-Asadi, stated “The decision of the government over cancelling the Ration Card show the instability of the government in making the decisions which we criticized before.”
He stated in a press statement received by IraqiNews.com “We will witness the return of the grants policy after increasing the financial support that will replace the Ration Card to IQD 25,000.”
“To make all know that the Iraqi people never wait the government to increase the financial support, but they own and grant the government not vice versa,” he concluded.
The Iraqi Premier Nouri al-Maliki expected to increase the financial support that will replace the Ration Card, to IQD 25,000.
The semi-official Iraqi Satellite Channel stated “Maliki expected to increase the financial support from IQD 15,000 to IQD 25,000,” considering this decision as “a step towards reformation.”
Earlier, the Iraqi Council of Ministers decided to cancel the Ration Card.
The Spokesperson of the government, Ali al-Dabbagh, told IraqiNews.com on Tuesday that “The CoM decided to cancel the distribution of the food materials of the Ration Card starting from March 1st, 2013.”
Dabbagh assured that “Each material of the Ration Card cost each citizen IQD 12, 000,” noting that “The resolution included distribution of IQD 15,000 for each citizen to replace the Ration Card’s material.”
