3 candidates expected to replace Maliki
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) According to the latest semi-official expectations, the candidates, who are going to succeed the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, after withdrawing confidence from him, are from the Iraqi National Alliance. An informed source reported to IraqiNews.com that “The initial predictions concerning the nominees who will replace Maliki, Ibrahim al-Jaafary, Adel Abdul Mahdi and Ahmed al-Chalabi, stating that “It is up to the INA, the largest parliamentary bloc, to nominate a replacement for Maliki.” The source revealed “A phone call was made between Jaafari and Ayad Allawi where the latter asked Jaafary to nominate a candidate to replace Maliki because it is not good to resort to the parliament and demand withdrawing confidence from the PM.” INA in response to this demand, issued a statement assuring “Settling the current crisis lies in holding the national meeting and adopting a responsible dialogue among all political sides.” INA’s adherence in solving the crisis via holding the national meeting and resort to the dialogue, indicates its refusal to withdraw confidence from Maliki, according to observers.
