CoM grants IHEC 120 Billion IQD to prepare for next parliamentary elections

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Secretariat of the Council of Ministers clarified granting the Independent High Electoral Commission 120 Billion IQD as advance payment to hold the next parliamentary elections in 2014.

A statement by the Secretariat of the CoM received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “The CoM held its regular 43rd meeting where it decided to grant the IHEC 120 Billion IQD to set the records of the electors and the prepare for the upcoming elections in 2014 where this fund will be returned to the Ministry of Finance during the financial year of 2014 of the IHEC.”

“This decision was taken due to discussing this issue by the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki and the Acting Finance Minister during the meeting and according to the request of the IHEC,” the statement concluded.
