Demo in Falluja to stop attacks on Gaza
ANBAR / IraqiNews.com: Scores of Falluja residents on Wednesday staged a demonstration in the city against the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, calling on the UN to intervene to stop the attacks. Haqi Ismail, a protestor, “called on the UN and Arab countries to intervene to stop this massacre against Palestinians.” “Where are humanitarian organizations?, where is the Arab League?, where is the humanity?.” He wondered. “We condemn this attack against Gaza and we hope the military operations stop,” he told IraqiNews.com news agency. The Iraqi government on Saturday (Jan. 2) condemned the Israeli army raids on the Gaza Strip, the most densely-populated area in the world, and called for an end to the military operations, avoiding endangering civilian lives, and refraining from the collective punishment policy. The Iraqi Air Force on Wednesday (Dec. 31) sent four flights to the Egyptian city of al-Arish to dispatch humanitarian and medical aid to the people of Gaza, who have been coming under Israeli attacks for days now. The Gaza Strip is under continued Israeli raids, followed by ground operations, for the second week in a row, during which more than 500 persons were killed and hundreds others were wounded. SH (S) 1
