Deputy premier heads meeting to follow up security agreement

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: Deputy Prime Minister Rafeaa al-Eissawi on Wednesday headed a ministerial meeting to follow up the implementation of the strategic agreement with the U.S.. “The security agreement will benefit the Iraqi people and will contribute in activating initiatives in economic, energy, services and technological fields,” al-Eissawi’s office said in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency. On November 27, 2008, the Iraqi Parliament passed a security pact with the United States, known as the status-of-forces agreement (SOFA), 10 days after the Iraqi cabinet approved it with an overwhelming majority.
