Everyone must merge into reform, Iraqiya bloc says

BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: The great people of Iraq called for reforms and consequently everyone must merge into this process and provide better services for long-suffering Iraqis, according to a spokesperson for al-Iraqiya bloc on Monday. “One year ago Iraqis headed to the ballot boxes to cast their votes in defiance of all terrorist blasts and suicide operations just for one objective, the enhancement of a democratic experiment and the building of a civil state based on constitutional concepts, freedom, human right, social justice, transparency and welfare,” Maysoon al-Damluji, the spokesperson for al-Iraqiya bloc, said in the statement, issued on the occasion of the first anniversary of the March 7, 2010 parliamentary elections. She said that those were the same reasons the Iraqis are taking to the streets of Baghdad and other provinces today in peaceful protests to offer their legitimate demands about better services, jobs, guarantees for human rights and an end to corruption. On Sunday (March 7), Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said that there are some parties who try to wreak havoc with the country’s political process and erase the election results, adding the parliament needs to weigh its achievements within 100 days. “The government’s timeframe of 100 days for the executive organizations to assess the level of services achieved would help the government recognize the ministers who fail to meet the demands,” Maliki was quoted in a statement received by IraqiNews.com news agency.  AmR (TS)/SR  736
