Ghurabi: Most provinces spend provincial budget for electoral propaganda

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The member of the Parliamentary Committee for Regions and Provinces, Iqbal al-Ghurabi, stated “Lately, It was proved that some provinces are using the provincial budgets for the electoral propaganda rather than the projects of the regions development.”

In a press statement received by IraqiNews.com on Wednesday, she said “These amounts are allocated to provide the services to the Iraqi citizens and not the electoral propaganda,” pointing out “There is a statistic of the Planning Ministry has diagnosis that some provinces has spent the money without proficiency.”

“Our Committee and the Integrity Committee in all the provinces are following up this issue and the stages in performing the projects in each province,” she added, noting that “There are many lagged and unqualified governors who caused the lag in the performance of the projects.”

“Some province has spent their budget to the strategic projects such as Karbala province,” she pointed out.

“What is happening is that some governors are justifying the delay in performing the projects by the law 21 of 2008 of the Provincial Council law, but al-Ahrar bloc and according to the instructions of the head of al-Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, will bring justice to the Iraqi people,” she concluded.
