“Govt. formation can’t bear any delay,” -al-Shilah
BAGHDAD / IraqiNews.com: A member of Iraq‘s National Alliance, representing the State of Law Bloc, Ali al-Shilah, has said on Tuesday that his “alliance insists on the formation of the new government in the nearest possible time,” adding that “things can’t bear any further delay.” “The statements by the Chairman of al-Iraqiya List, Iyad Allawi, that things won’t be settled in two meetings are mere ‘justification’ statements, as we know that there are things that must be discussed before the formation of the government,” al-Shilah said, adding that “The State of Law Coalition is determined to form the government in the nearest possible time, stemming from the constitutional principle and not mere persistence.” Al-Iraqiya Chairman, former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi, had stated to IraqiNews.com News Agency recently that “the issue of forming the new government won’t be settled in two meetings for the political leaders,” whilst al-Shilah said that “the Parliament’s Thursday session will be a session to assign the three State Presidencies and the election of a Parliament Speaker.” Regarding the explosions that took place in Karbala, Najaf and Basra over the past 24 hours, al-Shilah said, “terrorism does not want to see a democratic Iraq that joins all components together in a government of national-partnership,” considering the attacks as “ill sectarian reactions that won’t fool Iraqis and make them neglect their choices.” The leaders of the political blocs in Iraq have met in Arbil on Monday afternoon, in resonse to an initiative by the President of Kurdisan Region, Massoud Barzani, to discuss an solution for the current political crisis that had been shaking the country for about eight months, to be followed with another meeting of the leaders in Baghdad to continue the talks.
