Hakim discuss political crisis with Talabani, Maliki, Nijaifi, Barzani, Sadr, Allawi

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, conducted phone calls with the three Presidencies and the leaders of the political blocs discussing the means of solving the political crisis with them.

A statement by the SIIC received by Iraqi News (IraqiNews.com) cited “Hakim conducted phone calls separately with the President, Jalal Talabani, the Premier, Nouri al-Maliki, the Speaker, Osama al-Nijaifi, the President of Kurdistan Region, Masoud Barzani, the head of the Sadr Trend, Muqtada al-Sadr, and the head of the Iraqiya Slate, Ayad Allawi, to stress the national unity and to activate the national project of the reformation.”

“Hakim confirmed during the calls with the political leaders the necessity of respecting the former agreements, stressing that importance of holding a series of national serious meetings,” the statement added.

“Hakim praised the political leaders’ patriotic will, calling them to understand the critical stage and to focus on the presenting the best services to the Iraqis,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the President Jalal Talabani assured, on last Saturday night, that the number of the MPs who have signed a request to withdraw confidence from the Premier Nouri al-Maliki reached only 160 MPs which is less than the required number limited by 163.
