Hakim, Mahmoud discuss performance of Iraqi Judiciary

Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, discussed with the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Midhat al-Mahmoud, the topic of the Judiciary independence and the detainees file.

A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com cited that “During receiving al-Mahmoud at his office in Baghdad, Hakim stressed the need to maintain the independence of the Iraqi judiciary, highlighting the judiciary’s role in building the state of Iraq away from the political tensions.”

“The head of SIIC expressed his trust in the Iraqi judiciary in keeping the prisons devoid of oppressed detainees, where he urged all to feel responsibility in meeting the legitimates rights of the demonstrators,” the statement concluded.
