Hakim shows concerns over developments of Syrian situation
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council, Ammar al-Hakim, assured that “The dialogue among the Syrian sides is the best means to settle the Syrian crisis.”
A statement by the SIIC received by IraqiNews.com on Thursday cited “Hakim, while visiting Iran and meeting some religious authorities there, assured that the current conflict in the region has been changed to a regional and international conflict in order to achieve some other goals rather than the goals of the people,” expressing his concerns over the next challenge, describing it as “The danger that includes all the sects or communities in the region.”
“The people must get their freedom and dignity where the rulers must be close to their people and serve them,” he added, noting that “The current disputes in Syria will leave negative effects on the neighboring countries, including Iraq.”
“The Iraqi officials are increasing their efforts to avoid the negative results of the crisis by consolidating the unity among the constituents of the Iraqi people,” he concluded.
