Head of Libyan NTC confirms contacts with Iraqi Government over Libyan detainees in Iraq
Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) The Head of Libyan National Transitional Council, Mustafa Abdul Jalil, confirmed that “There are contacts with the Iraqi Government over the Libyan detainees in Iraq.”
He assured that “A committee was formed to keep contact with the Libyan Prisoners in Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan,” stressing “Reaching agreement over releasing some of them and transferring some others to Libya.”
“Transferring four or five Libyan Prisoners who are sentenced to death requires the parliament approval rather than the governmental approval,” he concluded.
Earlier, The Foreign Affairs Minister, Hoshyar Zebari, received, on last Wednesday, at the ministry’s HQ, Suleiman Al-Fortia, Member of the Libyan Transitional National Council, and his accompanying delegation as they discussed many issues including the issue of the Libyan detainees and prisoners in Iraq.
